We were hoping to release our film earlier in March but still have some matters to review with our entertainment lawyer.
It can be all too easy for filmmakers to overlook the legal facets of a film, especially when it comes to copyrights, trademarks, contracts, fair use, etc, and we want to make sure that all our ducks are in a row before we move forward. We do need a final stamp from the legal team before the film can be mastered into DVDs! Once we receive the OK, we’ll be able to forge ahead.
In the meantime, here’s what has been going on with the documentary:
- We invested time to work on revamping www.timetraveldoc.com. We re-did the landing page and added a couple of pages, but most of the work was in the backend. Everything is working much smoother than before.
- Film festivals. We’ve applied to a couple of local film festivals in Seattle, as well as as others that are sci-fi centric. Applications in the can, now the waiting begins! If you know of interesting film festivals in your area and believe our documentary would be a good fit for the genre, please let us know.
- We’re currently in talks with some film distribution outlets to do select screenings. With all of that comes a lot of leg work: meeting with lawyers to review contracts, creating special Blue Ray/DCP screeners, closed captioning, etc.
- We are also putting together behind-the-scenes and additional footage that will be exclusively on the DVD.
Note to our Kickstarter backers: we will be contacting you via email later this month with an update on your rewards.
Thank you for your support and your continuous encouragement.
